Leadership

Mt. Anderson is led by a plurality of elders—men who meet the qualifications of 1 Tim. 3 and Titus 1. These men are called to faithfully care for and shepherd God’s flock, as those who will give account to Christ.

Pastoral Transition

In early 2026, Pastor Donald shared his growing desire to prepare for a transition in roles. After serving faithfully as Senior Pastor for the last twenty years, his growing burden is to see Mt. Anderson cared for into the future. He views his final task to transition the ministry seamlessly to the next lead pastor when that time comes.

God's Providence

In God’s providence, Clay Mackie was preparing to launch from his sending church in Virginia, where he’d served as an associate pastor for the last decade. Over the years, Clay became increasingly burdened to replicate healthy churches in his home state of North Carolina. His initial desire was to plant or revitalize in the Charlotte metro area because of its recent growth. As he began to network, Clay was introduced to Donald through a mutual friend. Their first few conversations were about church planting and the growing need for healthy churches in the region. After several more conversations, it became clear to Donald and the elders that Clay would be a great fit to inherit Mt. Anderson and lead it into the future.

In April, 2026, Clay and his family were joyfully sent out from Timberlake Baptist Church, in Lynchburg, Virginia. Clay currently serves as associate at Mt. Anderson and will assume the lead role in May, 2027. After that transition, Clay desires Donald to remain at Mt. Anderson and continue shepherding the church with him.
